Decoration of the chapel

It was built between 1925 and 1927 according to the plans of the architects Bergeron and Lemay of Quebec. The architecture of the building, inspired by the Romanesque style, and the interior decoration are in perfect harmony.
The Oratory was decorated by Guido Nincheri, whose frescoes and stained glass windows adorn more than 200 buildings, including many churches. At the chapel of Saint Joseph’s Oratory in Quebec City, he created the murals, marouflaged paintings, mosaics, stained glass windows and drawings of certain pieces of furniture.
The decoration of the nave is dedicated to the glorification of Saint Joseph. In the east transept arm, the decoration shows the importance of the devotion and worship of St. Joseph in Canada, with, among other things, a large painting that recalls the consecration of Canada to St. Joseph on March 19, 1624. In the heart, the windows are dedicated to four saints of importance to Canada and to the community of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Saint-Vallier. With the painting of the vault, dedicated to the glorification of Saint Joseph by the angels, the artist wanted to present his vision of heaven.
